We won't see the CNE return again this year — but let's make sure it's still there when we're ready to go back.
After 142 years, the CNE, which operates as a non-profit, is at dire risk of closing its gates forever, and in urgent need of financial support from multiple levels of government. It's always been an important part of our community's summer, and a vital provider of jobs and opportunities for young people.
We need to send a clear message to Tourism Minister Lisa McLeod — the provincial government needs to step up with emergency funding for the CNE.
The Ford government must not turn its back on this cherished summer tradition. The NDP is calling on this government to step in and provide the financial support needed to re-open the gates of Toronto's beloved CNE in summer 2022 and beyond.
