  • Helped to secure over $1,000,000 for Copernicus Lodge during the pandemic for outbreak management
  • Successfully pushed for vaccine clinics in hot spot postal codes in the riding
  • Together with Stone Soup Network, fundraised and distributed 15,000 N95 masks to food banks, mutual aid groups, and those most in need in our community during the pandemic
  • Successfully pushed the Ontario government to provide health care coverage to Ukrainians seeking safety

Community

  • Helped secure major infrastructure grants for the High Park Nature Centre and High Park Zoo
  • Hosted 35+ town halls/round tables
  • Worked with Swansea Mews residents and convened a meeting with community groups to determine support for displaced residents leading to a community wide fundraising effort led by Stone Soup Network with $90,000+ raised
  • Together with the staff, board members, and thousands of constituents who spoke out, helped rally support to save the historic Revue Cinema from closure

Housing

  • Distributed over 34,000 Tenant Guide Books as a resource for tenants
  • Pushed the federal Competition Bureau to investigate corporate landlords using the AI software Yieldstar for possible rent fixing
  • Together with tenant advocates, successfully got corporate landlord GWL Realty to stop using Yieldstar
  • Alongside Parkdale tenants, successfully stopped a corporate landlord from evicting tenants for using air conditioning during a heat wave
  • Successfully halted evictions and stopped unsafe unit inspections when the pandemic first began
  • Successfully supported numerous tenants to remain housed on various landlord-tenant issues

Jobs & Small Businesses

  • Protected hundreds of local jobs by saving the Ontario Food Terminal 
  • Secured grants for almost 50 small businesses to survive the pandemic

Child Care & Education

  • Successfully pushed the Ontario government to release a permanent child care funding formula so that child care centres were able to remain open and part of the $10/day national child care program
  • Organized with parents and child care advocates to successfully convince four for-profit child care centres to reverse course and stay in the $10/day national child care program
  • Successfully pushed for urgent school repairs at Humberside Collegiate Institute

Transit

  • Pushed Metrolinx to reverse course on their plan to reduce service frequency on the UP Express
  • Pushed the City of Toronto to implement road safety measures on Parkside Drive

Other

  • Successfully pushed the Ontario government to pass a bill banning predatory HVAC scams which was applied retroactively and freed many from liens that were put against their homes
  • Successfully got ODSP recipients who were unfairly removed back into the program
