Whereas expansion of police powers is not the answer to the pandemic.
Whereas it will further harm Black, Indigenous, racialized and unhoused people who are already experiencing a disproportionate burden of the pandemic.
Whereas the third wave is mostly affecting essential workers who are majority BIPOC.
We the undersigned call for public health measures such as paid sick days, paid vaccination time and prioritization of essential workers in hot spots, and not new policing measures.
