On Friday, NDP Mental Health and Addictions critic Bhutila Karpoche issued the following statement regarding news that the Ford government is continuing to delay the opening of overdose prevention sites throughout Ontario:
By delaying overdose prevention sites, Ford puts lives at risk: NDP
“As the Ford government dithers, lives are shattered, families are destroyed, and people die. In the 46 days since the Ford government paused the opening of life-saving overdose prevention sites, over 150 people have lost their lives to overdose, and will never get a chance to seek treatment. The evidence is so clear: overdose prevention sites save lives. It’s time for the Ford government to stop standing in the way of health care professionals trying to save lives.”
