Since April 2020, Canada has witnessed 9 police-involved deaths of Black, Indigenous, and racialized people. Together, we can take action alongside these communities, stop the violence, and save lives.
We have to seize this moment and begin an unprecedented shift in how we view policing, community health, and safety. Only then can we make our province a better, safer place for all Ontarians, now and for generations to come.
We are demanding:
- Alternative first responders
- An end to carding
- A complete overhaul of police oversight
- Demilitarize police
- Giving cities control over their police budgets so they can prioritize programs that strengthen communities
- Community-driven, community-led solutions
